The Way We Were, No More
After Irak and the Devil of the Empire And there was sadness and so many cried in abyss of despair; our souls and lives knew of ghostly rain of death and of caves of doom so near, so close the labyrinths of fear. The Way we Were... ¡no more, no more! Let us be again at Xmas time, Hanukkah and Ramadhan. Let us be all the same again for there is fear and terror in the Land. ¡The Gods reunited are in judgement of mankind! Let us be at home when the time of prayer comes. Lets us be under the greenest tree of Faith and Hope ever grown to warm and keep us all. For hope and greater deeds and blessed mistletoes and all the symbols of religious faith, from Bagdad to Bogotá, must adorn the holidays to come. Let the light of all Kabbalahs keep alive the lamp of Israel, for Palestine must survive beyond all hate and greed. Let the festive joy of God revealed, surge amid the pain of Pakistan and Cachemira, the horrendous valley of death upon the Gulf, the floods, the winds, the tremors and the Furies all disbanded across forgotten lands, the poorest of them all. Let the light fill the dawns of Eid ul-Fitr, the tortured plains of all Afgan, the depths of dark and fear in all the jungles of the world; Let the spirit of renewal fill the hearts of all who care. Let us dare to survive the Horror of the age. Our souls in Hope of Peace and lasting dreams await the doors of Love to open up to all who care and dare.
